Atlantic Shores Stone Fruit Smoothie
What exactly do you think of when you think of a smoothie? A simple drink? A complex concoction of fruits and vegetables with a bunch of protein and vitamin add-ins? A vehicle for the world’s greatest superfoods?
Smoothies are actually a great way to “play” with your food — and to take advantage of the antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals packed in fruits and vegetables. They’re also great on-the-go snacks, especially with those of us who live our lives “on the run.”
Using fresh fruit will give you more flavor, and pack more of a nutritional punch than sometimes sugar-laden frozen fruits. Seasonal vegetables also ramp up the flavor quotient. Grains, especially oats, are popular in breakfast smoothies. Add more to the mix by blending in protein powders or multivitamins.
