Executive Director Eden Jones selected as American Business Awards Executive of the Year

Eden Jones, Executive Director of the Atlantic Shores Retirement Community in Virginia Beach Virginia, was recently honored with a Silver Stevie Award as 2011 Executive of the Year at the 10th Annual American Business Awards. This annual event recognizes American executives who have achieved outstanding success in their careers, and are also active leaders in their communities.

The American Business Awards are the nation’s premier business awards program, recognizing exceptional business leadership. The awards were presented on June 18, 2012 during ceremonies at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City.
Among only a few females to hold a similar position at regional senior living communities, Ms. Jones was selected based on her unique business style, and professional accomplishments in 2011, which included launching Atlantic Shores’ own real estate cooperative brokerage subsidiary, and implementing creative sales strategies which led to a 75% year-over-year increase in sales in a challenging real estate market. In addition to enhancing Atlantic Shores’ reputation as one of the nation’s premier senior communities, Ms. Jones has also implemented customer service, employee morale, mentoring, and effective management programs to make it a great place to work.

Admired for her energetic enthusiasm for her extended family of Atlantic Shores residents, Ms. Jones has embraced their talents to create programs that leave legacies of support not only to the community, but also the world. She was instrumental in creating the “Atlantic Shores/Guiding Eyes for the Blind Puppy Love Program,” where residents of Atlantic Shores are raising and training guide dogs for the blind, while also partnering with local elementary schools. The public relations campaign for the Puppy Love Program also received a 2011 Silver Stevie Award in the Public Relations Campaign of The Year category.
“I’m honored to receive this prestigious award, and to be among an amazing group of peers selected by the American Business Awards,” stated Ms. Jones. “Any leader is only as good as their team, which in my case, is an amazing one. This award celebrates the creativity and dedication demonstrated daily by the entire Atlantic Shores team.”

Ms. Jones directs all day-to-day operations of Atlantic Shores Retirement Community, a 100-acre campus in Virginia Beach, Virginia, featuring a 50-bed skilled nursing facility, 53 apartment home assisted living facility, a 14-bed Memory Care unit, and 555 independent living units. She oversees 350 employees in providing the finest, fully comprehensive senior living experience possible for more than 600 Atlantic Shores residents.

A role model and advocate for women in the workplace, Ms. Jones is a frequent industry lecturer on equity-owned senior housing. She also formed Senior Housing Operating Executives, to foster communication between executives from local senior living communities.
