Lifelong Learning

It’s almost back-to-school time…

….but not just for the kiddos! At Atlantic Shores, our lifelong love for learning and exploring new interests extends both on-campus among residents, and off-campus to inspire learning for seniors throughout the area:

– Our Resident Technology Committee coordinates staff and peer-to-peer classes, and technology assistance for residents to independently explore their careers, hobbies, interests, and volunteer opportunities.

– Atlantic Shores proudly partners with The Sandler Center to produce the popular Dancing with the Seniors dance education series. Offered free to novice dancers aged 55+, the series includes classes in a variety of styles, led by one of Hampton Roads’ most renowned dance instructors, and concludes with a “Senior Prom” where participants demonstrate their newly developed dancing dexterity.

– Several of our residents are active participants in ODU’s Continuing Education for Seniors program, exploring a wide variety of topics to enrich their lives.

– Our residents provide mentor-to-mentor education and love of shared interests with on-campus art classes led by resident artists, line-dancing classes, and needlework/knitting groups that knit prayer shawls for residents at our Assisted Living facility, Harbourway.

It’s never too late to learn something new!
