Naval Cadets and an App Keep Our Veterans Stories Alive

More than 25 of our veterans were able to spend their Saturday with naval cadets from First Colonial and Cox High Schools at the Military Aviation Museum. The two groups came together to support the “Vets & Cadets Program”. This program gives future military members the opportunity to interview veterans about their experiences in the military.

The wisdom and stories our veterans shared are priceless. To memorialize these stories, the cadets interviewed and recorded the interviews with an app on their smartphones called StoryCorps. The interviews from our residents will then be archived for future historians at the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. The stories will also be available on the StoryCorps website, so that anyone can listen to these wonderful and heroic stories. Thanks to the local naval cadets and StoryCorps, our veterans’ stories will stay alive.
