At Atlantic Shores, we’re proud that a large number of retired military members make up our community! These active and committed residents enjoy a vibrant social scene and ongoing connections, both within Atlantic Shores, and beyond.

Atlantic Shores is home to the Colonial Chapter of Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge, a group which meets monthly to honor veterans and educate children on the principles of citizenship. Special volunteer opportunities abound, including serving as docents and special event hosts at the Virginia Beach Military Aviation Museum, and as mentors with local Junior ROTC students.

Our Veterans also take Honor Flight tours to Washington D.C. to be recognized for their service.

And with one of the country’s largest military communities right here at our doorstep, a wealth of services and amenities for military retirees also are located just minutes away from Atlantic Shores.

Two area commissary locations offer a wide range of grocery, household, health and beauty items at everyday discounted prices. Non-GMO and USDA certified products are offered. Special orders and online ordering with curbside pick-up are also available. Sidewalk sales and healthy lifestyle events also are offered throughout the year.
