Kathy is responsible for organizing, directing, and coordinating resident services operations for the Atlantic Shores community. The wide scope of her position includes planning, coordinating, and supervising the social, educational, aquatic, health and wellness, and in-house programs for all residents. She coordinates all medical, shopping, church, and valet shuttles, and makes appropriate arrangements for residents to attend activities and events away from Atlantic Shores. A key part of her position is meeting with new residents to familiarize them with Atlantic Shores, and liaising with families to help with the move from independent living to assisted living.
Since joining the Atlantic Shores team in 2006, Kathy’s biggest accomplishment has been expanding the activities and programs for all of Atlantic Shores, Harbourway, Seaside, and Memory Unit residents. Her proudest moment was the sales success of the 2010 Pin-Up Boys of Atlantic Shores calendar.
Her background includes many years of direct involvement in the human services field. Prior to her employment with Atlantic Shores, she worked as a Program Director and a Branch Executive Director for YMCA in New Jersey and Virginia Beach. During her 28 years with YMCA, Kathy was involved in programming for all ages, but her heart was always with the active older adults.
Kathy holds a BS in Human Services from Springfield College. Originally from New Jersey, Kathy now resides in Virginia Beach with her husband. She has two stepsons, and her daughter has recently graduated from Virginia Tech with a Masters Degree. Kathy has two “babies” – her Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. In her spare time, she enjoys boating, snow and water skiing, and her favorite pastimes – shopping and wine tasting.
