Getting started with your retirement decision.
Let’s be honest, none of us really know how to “start” the complicated process of defining what we want our next phase of life to look like. There are too many unknowns, too many questions to be answered and too many options available.
Everyone approaches it differently, and what’s right for someone else may not be right for you. That’s OK, because the process should be, and will be, different for each of us. The most important thing is this:
You’re here. We can help you start.
Watch the video below to learn about the first question we think should begin your retirement journey.
Ready to begin? Start with answering this important question:
What things are truly most important to you?
(Think of the things that make life incredible for you, things you truly live for.)
1.
Make a list of your answers.
As you begin to write down those answers, you’ll find yourself staring down a long list of things that feel important.
It’s easy to be overwhelmed by the sheer number of things that are important to you, so revisit your list again and circle the things that are truly most important.
2.
Do your best to filter it down to only three or four things.
For many of our residents, their answers were something like:
- I love my kids and grandkids – I want to live close to them so I can be actively involved in their lives
- I want openness and space – I enjoy seeing green grass, living in a neighborhood with friendly neighbors and the ability to choose where and how I want to live
- I need financial security – It’s important that my needs are met, both now and later, and that I remain in full control of my finances, my future and my freedom
These examples may be true for some, but they might not be true for you! Remember, we are all different and we should have different answers. So what are yours?
Once you’ve made your list, take a moment and pat yourself on the back. CONGRATS! You have officially STARTED.
(You can’t hear it, but all of us here at Atlantic Shores are cheering for you.)
You’ve determined the things that are most important, the things you live for, and the things that will inform the decision you make about what your next stage of life will look like.
3.
Visit our campus!
One of the best ways to determine whether or not Atlantic Shores is a community that will check those boxes on your list is to visit our campus for a personal tour.
It’s our hope that this community will be a neighborhood that empowers you to live the life you want while pursuing your passions, building relationships and doing the things that are most important to you.
